RON SEXSMITH
Wednesday May 17th – Saint Mary’s Church, Nantwich
Canadian born, and growing up in the thriving Toronto musical scene, Ron broke through in the mid 90s when Elvis Costello described his 2nd album as ‘the album of the year”. Since then Ron has been cited as a favourite by icons ranging from Paul McCartney to Chris Martin to Elton John. His songs have been covered by artists including Rod Stewart, Feist, Michael Bible and K D Lang.
Ron has released 10 albums and has won 2 Juno awards (the Canadian equivalent to the Brits or Grammys). He’s unquestionably one of the worlds best writers of a melody, often coupled with thought provoking, heart tugging lyrics. Also possessing an exquisite tenor voice and a humane, unassuming stage presence Ron’s shows are intimate, heart warming occasions.
His new album “The Vivian Line” is due for release in February, he will be briefly back in the UK to,promote it and we are absolutely privileged and thrilled that we’ve enticed him to Nantwich, to play in the beautiful location of St Mary’s Church, which is of Cheshire’s oldest churches and sits at the centre of the 16th century market town of Nantwich.
